Every class in World of Warcraft has its own set in the Order Hall – but hardly anyone uses it. A design flaw by the developers?
Those who want to quickly bring their characters to a solid gear level in World of Warcraft have much more options than a few years ago. Instead of being completely reliant on raids, heroes can also be solidly equipped through mythic dungeons, world quests, PvP, or crafting professions – with a bit more endurance.
As soon as you reach level 110, there is a gear set that you are briefly informed about: The Order Hall set.
WoW: Order Hall Sets are upgraded with 7.2, remain useless
Most items from it have an item level of 810, but can be upgraded to 840 (for a large amount of Order resources). However, the set hardly comes into play (Ha, pun intended!), as players note in the official forum. By the time you unlock the “later” pieces, which are hidden behind the reputation for the Nightborne, world quests long yield better rewards.
With patch 7.2, you will be able to raise parts of the set to item level 860 – but even that doesn’t please the fans. 860 corresponds roughly to what is dropped in the LFR of the current raid, The Nighthold.
The Community Manager Ornyx argues that the sets are made for more “casual” players who primarily obtain their gear through solo content. This number of players is larger than many group players assume.
Do you wear and use your Order set with your main character or twinks? Or have you not touched it at all?
Cortyn says: I share the critic’s view that the Order sets were a mistake in terms of their implementation. Even my twinks, which I play as “casual” as possible since they might farm herbs or ores, had no use for the sets when they became available. Especially world quests and emissary chests often provided much better gear.
At least the Order Hall sets still serve another purpose: They are a nice design for transmog. But nothing more.
