Soon, you’ll receive a really cool tree as a mount in WoW: Shadowlands. We’ll reveal when and how you can get it.
In the meantime, there are several hundred mounts in World of Warcraft, making it increasingly challenging for the developers to create something truly special. However, with the next patch, players can rejoice as a long-promised mount is finally coming to the game. The wandering tree will be introduced soon.
The mount has special details: The developers have put a lot of effort into this mount, evident through the many details incorporated. The massive tree changes its appearance according to the seasons. While it shines in green splendor during spring and summer, it turns to a wilted red-brown in autumn and a cool white-blue in winter. Thus, the tree is equipped for every season.
But there are even more details to discover. The tree regularly loses some leaves, naturally in accordance with the season.
Those who look closely may occasionally spot a small caterpillar crawling out of a branch hole of the tree, positioned behind the player’s seating area – as if the caterpillar were actually controlling the tree rather than the player.
About the tree: A while back, the “Art Team” at WoW finished its tasks ahead of schedule and wanted to use the freed-up time to give something back to the players. Thus, Blizzard conducted a survey back then to find out what kind of mount the community desired. The rough options were:
- The wandering tree
- A flying book
- A giant slime cat
- A large caterpillar
- A Nerubian (a type of spider creature)
The tree won by a significant margin at that time. Not surprising, considering trees have been a staple of the game world since Warcraft III and are particularly interesting for Night Elves.
What do you need to do to obtain the mount?
Essentially, nothing. You just need to own Shadowlands and log into the game sometime after the release of patch 9.0.5. Then you’ll receive the mount effortlessly for free.
There is no exact release date for patch 9.0.5 yet; however, the developers are planning a release around March. This will coincide with the improvements to the loot system.
