For collectors, one of the best changes in Patch 11.0.5 of World of Warcraft is hidden – but the new feature was kept secret and not announced.
Patch 11.0.5 of World of Warcraft has launched the anniversary event for the game’s 20th birthday. However, the patch also brought a lot of adjustments, especially to the classes. Although the patch notes are quite lengthy, not all changes are included. A small, yet very fine adjustment has now been discovered, making collectors much happier as they save a lot of time.
What was discovered? As MrGM revealed on X, a small change is hidden in Patch 11.0.5. “Raid Skips” are now no longer tied to individual characters, but the unlocking is now account-wide (or “warband wide”). If one character has unlocked the skip, it now applies to all.
What are Raid Skips? Raid Skips usually refer to quests within a raid that allow skipping certain bosses. This is generally possible by defeating all bosses in the raid 3-4 times while collecting quest items. Subsequently, players receive some sort of unlocking – like a teleport, a secret access, or an NPC dialogue – to jump directly from the start of the raid to the final bosses (to “skip”).
By doing so, only the last bosses of a raid can be targeted, which usually offer especially good or rare rewards.
Who benefits from this? The change is particularly interesting for collectors who primarily want to farm the last bosses from different raids. After all, these bosses usually have very special mounts that only drop at a very low chance (often 1% or less). It can be a significant time investment to clear the entire raid over and over again.
With the change, you can now jump directly to the end on all characters and try your luck with a variety of twinks, without having to complete the quests for each character for weeks to unlock the respective skip.
For example, if someone wants to farm the stylish water elemental from Jaina in the raid “Battle of Dazar’alor” on mythic, they only need to unlock this skip once and can then go directly to Jaina with all characters to beat her over and over again – until she hopefully drops her stylish mount.
This continues Blizzard’s path of unlocking more content in World of Warcraft for the entire account and gradually eliminating tedious “farming repeatedly”.
We will probably find out how World of Warcraft progresses in just a few weeks, as the BlizzCon replacement – the Warcraft Direct – is coming then.
