We wanted to know if you want to see World of Warcraft on the Xbox – the result is a wild mix, as you are not in agreement.
Because Microsoft is currently in the process of acquiring Activision Blizzard, and thus also gains access to Blizzard IPs like Warcraft, at least the thought is on the table whether WoW could also appear on the Xbox. This rumor has been around for some time, and now would be the perfect moment to implement it – or not?
This is exactly what we wanted to know from you a few days ago in a survey, and you participated in large numbers. More than 3,700 of you cast your vote and made your opinion clear.
The largest group does not want WoW on the console
With a hefty 42% (1,606 votes) of you, the majority believes that World of Warcraft has no place on consoles – not even on the Xbox. World of Warcraft is an MMORPG that simply requires a keyboard and mouse and should not be played with a gamepad in hand.
The reasons for this are manifold and range from doubts about feasibility to concerns that one would end up in a group with controller players who might perform less or not participate in chat agreements.
L4ch3s1s sees the chances as rather slim:
“As if Microsoft would port WoW to the Xbox – never. Microsoft surely won’t put up with the shitstorm. It’s purely about mobile in all of this, possibly long-term about cloud, but certainly not about such a port. I’ve only tried WoW once myself, but I can say: that’s not something that could be ported properly (too extensive for a controller).”
Or Alexander Ostmann, who simply says clearly: “No, thanks!”
Almost 40% want to see and experience WoW on Xbox
The second largest group sees it exactly the other way. A full 38% and thus 1,431 votes want to see World of Warcraft on the console. According to their opinion, it is long overdue for World of Warcraft to also appear on the Xbox.
After all, other MMORPGs like Final Fantasy XIV have already demonstrated that this genre can be played wonderfully with a gamepad. Not to mention that there are now some players who enjoy WoW on PC with a gamepad – since Shadowlands, controller support has been firmly integrated into the game, and additional addons further enhance the experience.

Few want WoW only as part of the Xbox Game Pass
The smallest group, with 20% (753 votes), believes that WoW should come to the Xbox – but only if it is also part of the Game Pass. Then World of Warcraft would be “free” for everyone who owns the Game Pass. The advantage is clear: access to hundreds of current games and at the same time the freedom to check in on World of Warcraft at any time.
However, this would not go without problems and might not even be wanted by Blizzard, as we have described in this column.
Whether World of Warcraft ends up appearing on the Xbox remains to be seen. It is clear, however, that you as our readers have a very divided opinion on this topic.
