Players are complaining that there is nothing to do in the new patch of WoW . After a few hours, the excitement wanes – but why?
The anticipation was high for most players when the heroes of Azeroth finally plunged into the new content of Patch 7.2 to give the Burning Legion a good kicking.
However, the spirit of exploration lasted only a short time. After battling through the quests and upgrading the artifact weapon for nearly an hour, a visit to the dungeon “The Cathedral of Eternal Night” was on the agenda – before the faces became longer and longer. Occasionally, an elite enemy appears on the map of the Broken Shore, but otherwise, not much happened.
Is that all there is? Does Patch 7.2 have nothing more to offer, and is the fun over after 2-3 hours?
That is only partially true, as Blizzard has decided to release the content of 7.2 “The Tomb of Sargeras” in phases, which is why the first week is a bit lackluster. Meanwhile, the developers have clarified and explained when exactly the various contents of 7.2 will become available:
- Week 2: The Legion invasions begin on the Broken Isles and the first PvP brawl is active
- Week 3: Chapter 5 of the class campaign becomes accessible, unlocking new followers, new upgrades for the order hall, and class-specific world quests.
- Week 4-11: Ongoing pieces of the story will be unlocked, ultimately leading to the opening of the Tomb of Sargeras and the ability to earn class mounts.
There are several reasons for this phasing. One reason is that they do not want to overwhelm players with too many possibilities right away. Another reason is that the unlocking of the content follows a rough storyline arc, which is represented in this way. Week 1, for instance, is the attack of Dalaran on the Broken Shore, in week 2 the Legion counters with the invasions, and in week 3 the heroes react to that.
Blizzard apologizes for not having communicated this clearly from the beginning and hopes that all uncertainties are now resolved.
Blizzard is also drastically raising prices in WoW and Hearthstone – a good reason to complain.
