Who still remembers Auberdine from WoW before the Cataclysm? Or the old Sylvanas model? Screenshots from the past evoke nostalgic feelings.
Since its release, World of Warcraft has undergone many changes. This applies not only to the overall graphics of the game but also to the environments, which were significantly revised with “Cataclysm”. However, one other thing has also changed repeatedly: the official WoW site from Blizzard. In the past, there was a section that published a new screenshot or a new wallpaper every week.
On Reddit, the user tto55 collected 114 of these images years ago, saved them, and has now re-uploaded them! A glance at the gallery is likely to tug at the heartstrings of many long-time WoW fans. We have selected some of the most beautiful images for you.
Auberdine, Stormwind, and Sylvanas – just much older
We begin with this image of a Night Elf fishing for Auberdine Darkshore-Flatfish. Veterans will remember the quest well, as it was the first fishing quest encountered as a Night Elf. Today, Auberdine is destroyed – and has left many players with a hole in their hearts.
Does anyone still remember Desolace when the area was truly desolate? Only one NPC wandered endlessly – Rexxar, still with a very old model.
Unforgettable is also Stormwind. The old map of the city was much tidier and a lot “blockier” than today’s version …
… there was also the park with the Moonwell (which, however, did not count as a Moonwell for tailors – for some reason).
Many players also no longer know the old model of Sylvanas. Back then, she was simply a Night Elf in a plate-cloth-leather armor with an undead touch. No comparison to the current appearance of the Banshee Queen.
To conclude, an old image of the dark portal. This was the template for the login screen of classic World of Warcraft. Who can forget the war drums that calmed one down when there were “only” 500 players ahead in the queue?

Do you still remember these images? Or is it all too long ago and before your time?
