For Night Fae in World of Warcraft, there is good news. Their soul shapes can be used in Dragonflight as a toy.
Even though Shadowlands did not exactly ignite enthusiasm overall, there are a few aspects from which the heroes have to bid a painful farewell.
One of them is the soul shape of the Night Fae, which will not work in the new expansion Dragonflight. But you don’t have to give up all the unlocked shapes – a new toy will give them back to you.
What is the problem with the Night Fae? The covenants of Shadowlands all had different advantages and bonuses, but no covenant could collect as many cosmetic customizations as the Night Fae. This is mainly due to the “soul shape”, the signature ability of the Night Fae, where characters transform into an animal form.
There were numerous different soul shapes to collect – whether from dungeons, from PvP, from raids, or even from fishing. The shapes were a significant part of the identity of Night Fae characters.
However, the soul shape will no longer be usable in Dragonflight. This is because all Shadowlands abilities will then be limited to Shadowlands content and can only be used there. At least Blizzard wants to move away from “borrowed power” and instead establish a more complex, thought-out talent system.
Former Night Fae veterans will not have to completely forgo the unlocked animal forms of the soul shape.

What comes with Dragonflight? With Dragonflight, there is a new quest in Ardenweald. Night Fae followers can talk to Lady Muunn in the Heart of the Forest and complete a short quest. The quest “Shapes from Beyond the Veil” grants the toy “Seed of Renewed Souls”.
The toy allows you to take on your currently selected soul shape for 10 minutes – with a cooldown of only 5 minutes. If you want, you can continue to run around in the soul shape permanently outside of combat.
What are the disadvantages? Since the “Seed of Renewed Souls” is a toy, the soul shape of the Night Fae will lose its gameplay utility. The shape no longer grants a bonus to movement speed and the teleport spell “Blink” cannot be used with the toy. It is therefore merely a cosmetic effect, allowing you to still spend a bit of time in the soul shape in the future.
