A third specialization for the Evokers in World of Warcraft is becoming increasingly likely. Now NPCs are already talking about it.
A few days ago, we speculated that the latest class in World of Warcraft, the Evoker, might soon receive a third specialization. Now there is new information that further supports this theory. Because the former leader of the black dragons, Deathwing, is talking about it himself.
What has been discovered? In the game data of Patch 10.1: Neltharion’s Fury, colleagues from wowhead found new sound files. These are played during the storyline of the new update and are spoken by Neltharion. Presumably, this is a recording from the past. Because the former aspect of the black dragonflight says (translated):
You three will be the examples for all Dracthyr.
Sarkarath, my devastator, you shall tear your foes apart with the power of the red and blue dragonflights.
Viridia, my guardian, you shall heal our allies with the grace of the green and bronze dragonflights.
And Emberthal, you will carry the essence of the black dragonflight within you to empower all those around you.By my command, kneel and serve.
Neltharion is clearly talking about three different archetypes that should exist among the Evokers. So far, however, only two of them are playable.
What does that mean? Of course, “story” and “gameplay” are fundamentally two different things. However, it is unusual for an important character to clearly address the different specializations and even mention a new, currently unplayable specialization. It would definitely fit the theme of self-discovery and exploration of the past if Evokers were to receive another talent tree.
Whether this talent tree will actually come with Patch 10.1 or if it will just lay the groundwork for this search remains to be seen. However, it seems clear that Blizzard is not done with the Evokers yet.
What kind of talent tree would that be? Neltharion speaks in his speech of “Augmentation”, meaning something like “increase”, “enhancement”, or “improvement”. Accordingly, the third specialization would likely be something quite new in World of Warcraft, namely a role that enhances other group members and grants them additional buffs – at least in theory. However, whether this is just a term or functions predominantly independently like the “Enhancement Shaman” remains to be seen.
In any case, it is an exciting topic, and we will surely learn more about it in the coming weeks.
