A clever player discovered a strange detail in the latest WoW scenario “Whispers of a Frightened World” – it takes place under Ahn’Qiraj!
Last night (08/15/2017), a new quest was launched in World of Warcraft. This quest urged players to visit the dwarf Magni Bronzebeard in Northrend, who has now become the “Speaker of Azeroth”.
Azeroth – the soul of the planet – had a message for Magni and the players were allowed to be part of it. This marks the beginning of Patch 7.3, which is expected to go live in a few weeks and takes players to the devastated world of Argus.
What is interesting and largely unknown is: the entire scenario is not located in Northrend, but beneath the ruins of Ahn’Qiraj!
Scenario in WoW at a Suspicious Location
On Reddit, the user Egyptiiaann discovered that the small “instance” was designed not somewhere in the wilderness, but beneath the ruins of Ahn’Qiraj. He used the spell Far Sight to look “through the walls” of the area. He found that the entire instance was built under a copy of Ahn’Qiraj – the resting place of the Old God C’thun.

Additionally, there is a strange sentence from Magni that is difficult to place. While Azeroth’s warning at the end points to Sargeras, the phrase “Sands… soaked in suffering” does not make sense. But when thinking of Silithus (where Ahn’Qiraj is located) – an area full of sand where gigantic wars have taken place – everything comes together. Azeroth is likely afraid not only of the end brought by the dark titan Sargeras but also of the Old Gods, who are now stirring again.

It might just be a coincidence that Blizzard simply took the “template” of a raid instance to develop the scenario underneath. However, it is definitely suspicious that this specific location, which is connected to the Old Gods, was chosen.
Perhaps we will learn more at Gamescom.
