Patch 9.0 of WoW has received a substantial update. Over 1,000 nerfs are coming to make the content easier.
A new version of the pre-patch 9.0 for World of Warcraft is on the PTR – and it’s significant. Because Blizzard is introducing a lot of changes to weaken the still-relevant content of the game. More than 1,600 nerfs and adjustments to the most current content are included in the new update.
What kind of nerfs are involved? Of the over 1,600 reductions, the creatures from patch 8.3 are primarily affected. The damage of numerous abilities has been reduced on average by around 20%, so bosses will hit less hard going forward. Older bosses, such as those from the Battle of Dazar’alor, are also affected. The coming weeks provide a good opportunity to defeat the currently “relevant” bosses before the journey to the Shadowlands begins.
The complete list is quite long and includes pretty much all abilities of bosses and mobs from Ny’alotha and the Horrific Visions.

Why is Blizzard doing this? The content of patch 8.3 is designed around the existence of Corruption effects. Currently, they account for on average between 15% and 25% of character strength – in some more extreme cases even significantly more. Since Corruption will be disabled with patch 9.0, the bosses would be disproportionately difficult. For this reason, there are nerfs across the board so that the content of patch 8.3 can still be tackled during the transition phase from patch 9.0 until the release of Shadowlands.
When is the patch coming? There still isn’t a specific date, but the timelines leading up to the release of Shadowlands are slowly running out. Recently, it seems the patch has been postponed. The most likely date currently is next Wednesday, October 7, 2020.
Do you think it’s good that Blizzard is nerfing the content again? Or would you have preferred that it wasn’t necessary during the transition period until Shadowlands?
