One of the major features of Patch 9.1 in World of Warcraft is already unpopular on the PTR. Because the loot in the Mega-Dungeon annoys many.
The upcoming Patch 9.1 Chains of Domination for World of Warcraft brings some significant content. These mainly include the new raid “Sanctum of Domination” as well as the Mega-Dungeon “Tazavesh”. But this dungeon is already falling out of favor. Many players believe that it is only worthwhile for twinks.
What is the problem? The loot from Tazavesh has already been changed several times on the PTR. While it used to drop upgradable gear, similar to “Mythic+” dungeons, Blizzard has now given the items a fixed item level – specifically Item Level 226.
Item Level 226 is also the current maximum for a large part of the gear, which has been in effect since Patch 9.0.5. So if someone hopes for an improvement from Tazavesh with their main character, they are left disappointed.
When will the “good” loot come? Probably not until Patch 9.1.5 or 9.2.0. Then Tazavesh will be split up and will also be available to the “Mythic+” system. This will allow the loot to scale to the respective difficulty and provide the possibility to upgrade items with Valor Points. Until then, the items from Tazavesh will likely remain at Item Level 226 – making them suitable mainly for latecomers or newcomers.
Community is concerned: In various comment sections, such as on wowhead, the loot is being hotly debated. Many players see no benefit in Tazavesh when there is only loot with a value they can already reach. A few voices on the matter:
- “So, um… what’s the reason I should do this? I already have 226 gear. I’ve played it twice on the PTR and some of the bosses are really annoying, so I definitely won’t do it again just for fun.”
- “It feels like they don’t even want us to play 9.1.”
- “Please increase the item level to at least 233 and make the dungeon harder. Such a dungeon shouldn’t be a catch-up mechanic…”
However, there are also players who do not understand this criticism. It is noted that the upcoming raid “Sanctum of Domination” also only leaves items with Item Level 226, so this level would be completely acceptable for the Mega-Dungeon. After all, not all players are optimally equipped and can surely still get 2-3 improvements from Tazavesh.
Please remember that this information comes from the PTR. A lot could still be adjusted before the release of Patch 9.1.
Hard Mode could provide relief
However, there is also a glimmer of hope, as hints of a Hard Mode for Tazavesh have already been found in the game files (via wowhead). Something similar was already present in Operation: Mechagon. There, players had to defeat all bosses in a specific order and trigger special mechanics during the fights. This was rewarded with a special achievement and a cool mount.
A (currently unfinished) quest line references the Hard Mode, and various triggers for special Hard Mode abilities have already been found in the game data. However, it is still unclear how exactly the Hard Mode looks – and whether it provides better loot.
What the Hard Mode of Tazavesh will bring, we will probably only find out with the release of Patch 9.1 – which hopefully will be in a few weeks.
By the way, a player is eagerly waiting for Patch 9.1 – because he has completed all achievements and finished WoW.
