Two new cinematics for World of Warcraft have been discovered. We will tell you what is happening – and what it means.
The raid “Amirdrassil, Hope of Dreams” has been accessible for a few hours now, and on normal difficulty, many raid groups have already plowed through the bosses. The kill of Fyrakk is accompanied by two small cinematics that reveal how the story of World of Warcraft continues and what happens with the aspects.
Even if that should have become relatively clear from the title:
Spoiler alert: If you don’t want to know how the raid and the campaign of patch 10.2 ends, you should not read on.
What happens after the raid? With the defeat of the final boss Fyrakk, Amirdrassil is considered saved. The flames cannot engulf the tree, and instead, the world tree can be safely transferred into the material plane of Azeroth.
However, this comes with a change of the dragon aspects. All present dragons, namely Alexstrasza, Kalecgos, Nozdormu, Merithra, Ebyssian, and Vyranoth, receive new power. Their eyes regain the magical glow that the aspects lost during the fight against Deathwing (Cataclysm).
However, after the cinematic, there is another in-game cutscene in which the strengthened dragons discuss what has happened. They have regained their aspect power, but this time it is not of titan origin – instead, they have received a blessing directly from Azeroth.
They are to serve the planet as their aspects in the future.
What does this mean for the future of the aspects? This is not yet quite certain. However, it is clear that Alexstrasza and the other aspects are no longer bound to the power of the titans, and instead, they now draw their strength directly from Azeroth – and no longer from the order magic of the titans. This could sooner or later lead to a conflict with the titans, who place great value on the fact that all creation on Azeroth behaves exactly as their order dictates.
A central role will likely play this at the latest in a few years in the expansion “The Last Titan” – because there we should learn more about the true plans of the titans.
