The next patch of World of Warcraft brings more class possibilities. Monks for many – and a new playable area.
A major criticism of World of Warcraft in recent years has been that new content took forever to arrive. With Dragonflight, Blizzard wants to prove that it can be done differently. Just 8 weeks after the launch, Patch 10.0.5 was already released – and the next update is already being presented. It continues seamlessly with Patch 10.0.7, which will soon be presented on the PTRs.
Some highlights include new races that can become monks and the legacy races for the two most well-known species of the Warcraft universe.
Monks for more races
Wherever it makes historical sense, Blizzard tries to break down the restrictions on class selection for each race. After a while, mages, priests, and rogues were made accessible to all races, the next change is coming for monks. Specifically, this means that with Patch 10.0.7, you can play the following new class-race combinations:
- Goblin Monk
- Lightforged Draenei Monk
- Worgen Monk
Whether goblins find their inner balance when surrounded by gold or explosions remains to be seen.
Heritage Armor for Orcs and Humans
Another highlight awaits the core races of Warcraft. After long years of waiting, orcs and humans are finally getting their own heritage armor and the associated quest line.
Visually, it is inspired by the beginnings of Warcraft.
- Humans receive a stylish armor, which visually resembles mainly plate and chain wearers. The design corresponds to the “foot soldier” from Warcraft III but also features some modern embellishments, such as the lion symbol on the belt.
- Orcs, on the other hand, wear armor that one knows from the grunt units of Warcraft III. Only a little leather covers the skin, but there are plenty of straps and even more spikes.
Currently, human players are not very enthusiastic about the armor, as it hardly matches a mage or other cloth classes. However, most seem to realize that finding an iconic armor that suits all human types is not so easy. Therefore, the “classic foot soldier armor” seems to be an acceptable compromise, even if it won’t please everyone.
The Forbidden Island will be accessible
The starting area of the Dracthyr was more or less abandoned in a panic, leaving behind a lot of chaos. With Patch 10.0.7, it will return to this island – and for everyone, not just the Dracthyr. The Forbidden Island will then be a new high-end area where there will be some new story missions, plenty of primalists, and new rewards.
Although details are not yet known, it should be a solid addition to what players have already available at level 70.
When will Patch 10.0.7 be released? There is still no exact release date for the update. However, looking at the targeted roadmap for 2023, it becomes clear that Patch 10.0.7 is set to be released in spring. That would be a period sometime between April and June. However, since the big Patch 10.1 is also scheduled for spring, the smaller update 10.0.7 is likely to be scheduled for April.
As soon as there is a concrete date, we will, of course, report on it.
