Patch 8.2 of World of Warcraft brings many new cutscenes. A large part of it is already included in the game.
A new update for Patch 8.2 Rise of Azshara has been deployed on the PTR of World of Warcraft. In addition to small changes to the essences of the Heart of Azeroth and minor class adjustments, the cutscenes have now been brought into the game.
The colleagues from wowhead have already located the cutscenes. We want to briefly introduce them to you. Please note that some of the cutscenes still have minor errors – these will surely be fixed by the release.
Spoiler Alert: The cutscenes logically reveal major plot points from Patch 8.2. If you do not want to see this, you should not watch the clips. You have been warned.
The Heart of Azeroth and the Diagnosis of MOTHER
With Patch 8.2, the Heart of Azeroth receives the essences that players can use to unlock new abilities. We learn how this comes about from Magni and MOTHER in the heart chamber.
MOTHER informs players that the Heart of Azeroth needs more power to stop the death of Azeroth. This power comes from essences derived from the powers of the Titans – specifically, the power of the Dragon Aspects. There may be essences in their vicinity that players need to search for.
After the hero gathers all the dragon essences and unites the swarms in the heart chamber, the dragons strengthen the Heart of Azeroth and thus let it “grow into a power that was not thought possible”.
War Campaign: The Rescue of Baine
The war campaign in Patch 8.2 revolves mainly around the rescue of Baine, who is currently captured in Orgrimmar. Both factions are trying to rescue Baine from the grip of the Banshee Queen. This leads to a meeting between Thrall and Jaina, as well as the respective players of the factions. They unite for this endeavor, giving Baine a better chance.
After Baine is reached, however, the heroes find that his chains are secured against magic. It was all a trap by Sylvanas, who unleashes some Blood Elves of the Sunstriders and Dark Rangers on the group. The Sunstriders have some unfinished business with Jaina, as many of them were killed during the “Cleansing of Dalaran”.
Azshara and Her Naga in Nazjatar
In Nazjatar, there are also a number of cinematics to tell the story and highlight major events. It begins with a confrontation with Queen Azshara, who informs players and heroes of the respective faction that she controls the magic in Nazjatar and holds back the water as long as they provide her with good entertainment.
Shortly afterwards, players get to see the Naga army establishing themselves in Nazjatar, which poses one of the greatest problems. They also get another glimpse of Lady Ashvane.
Later, the plot revolves around the Tide Stone. This is one of the pillars of creation that players recovered in “Legion” and then fell back into the hands of the Naga. Azshara strengthens one of her handmaidens and binds her to the power of the Tide Stone:
Players then need to recover a magical artifact (a throwing spear) to break the bond with the Tide Stone:
In the end, the heroes of the Alliance and Horde gain control over the Tide Stone. Thalyssra and Jaina work together to break through a barrier that ultimately allows access to Azshara’s palace:
Some cinematics are still missing: In addition to the cutscenes, Patch 8.2 will also have some “real” cinematics. However, these will not be released until the patch goes live, as usual. There is still no exact release date for Patch 8.2.
