Right now, 3 affixes in World of Warcraft will be massively nerfed. We will tell you what is changing in the ‘Mythic+’ system soon.
Although the ‘Mythic+’ dungeons are an important endgame pillar of World of Warcraft, there are always problems with the system. Especially the massive differences between weeks due to tougher and weaker affixes are a thorn in the side of many players. Therefore, Blizzard is now adjusting and nerfing 3 affixes in Patch 9.1.5.
What is the problem? Many players enjoy Mythic+, but there are a number of affixes that, particularly in problematic combinations, make the feature less enjoyable in some weeks. Thus, it has become commonly perceived in the community that there are special “Push Weeks” where progress is especially easy, and then there are weeks where players prefer to avoid dungeons.
Especially the affix “Necrotic” is frequently a point of contention, as it often forces tanks to kite for extended periods and spend little time actually tanking. Many tanks now refuse to play during “Necrotic” weeks as they find it less enjoyable.
Which affixes will be adjusted? Three affixes that were problematic on their own, but especially led to annoyances in combination. They are:
- Bolstering: When enemies are defeated, all other nearby enemies receive a bonus to health and damage dealt.
- Raging: When enemies are brought below 30% of their health, they deal 75% more damage.
- Necrotic: Enemy hits trigger a stack of “Necrotic Wound” which deals damage and reduces healing received by 2% per stack.
Blizzard lets tanks counter “Necrotic” more easily now
What exactly do the adjustments look like? The changes for all 3 affixes are massive and in some cases quite significant. Here are the details of the changes:
- Bolstering: Enemies that are enhanced by Bolstering will retain this enhancement for only 20 seconds, with the duration reset to 20 seconds with each new stack. It is thus nearly impossible to create a new “mini-boss”, as at the latest 20 seconds after the death of the penultimate enemy, the last opponent has returned to normal values.
- Raging: Enemies below 30% of their health now deal only 50% more damage, down from 70%. This should lead to fewer “sudden deaths”.
- Necrotic: The strength of the debuff remains the same, but the duration is reduced from 9 seconds to 6 seconds. This means that the tank has to kite 33% less before the stacks expire. A single mass stun can therefore already be enough to reset the stacks.
However, keep in mind that this information comes from the PTR for Patch 9.1.5 and that a lot can change before the patch’s release.
When will Patch 9.1.5 be released? There is still no exact date. However, realistic estimates suggest that the release of the update will be around mid-October. So you’ll have to wait a few more weeks for the changes. As soon as there is a concrete date, we will of course inform you about it on MeinMMO.
What do you think about these nerfs? Just the thing to make the annoying weeks in ‘Mythic+’ bearable again? Or does that make everything far too easy?
