A new round of nerfs weakens the toughest dungeons in World of Warcraft. Four of them will be significantly easier to handle from now on.
With Patch 9.2.5, players have received some new content, primarily small but engaging content like the new Dark Rangers that are drawing attention. The ability to finally play together with Horde and Alliance in Cross-Faction Play is also making waves. However, this also invites more players into endgame content, such as the ‘Mythic+’ dungeon with its scaling strength.
However, these dungeons are currently causing some issues, as some abilities are hitting significantly harder than the developers intended – at least up to now. A hotfix has now weakened a total of 4 of the 10 available dungeons and resolved a few points of friction.
Which dungeons have been nerfed? Overall, while there are not many changes, some enemies in 4 dungeons will be weaker. The changes affect:
- Necrotic Wake
- Nalthor the Icebinder
- Icebound Aegis absorbs 20% less damage on Mythic difficulty.
- Nalthor the Icebinder
- Spooky Depths
- Executioner Tarvold
- Reckoning deals 20% less damage.
- Grand Overseer Beryllia
- Torture deals 20% less damage.
- A bug has been fixed where some abilities scaled with the Fortified affix instead of the Tyrannical affix.
- Executioner Tarvold
- Peaks of Ascension
- Astronos, Lakesis, and Klotos
- Health points have been reduced by 20%.
- Aura of Intimidation deals 20% less damage.
- Astronos, Lakesis, and Klotos
- Theater of Pain
- Xav the Unyielding
- Seismic Jump deals 20% less damage.
- Xav the Unyielding
What are the implications of the nerfs? The nerfs serve multiple purposes. A relief for healers, a bit more margin for error, or a reduction in fight duration in particularly challenging battles.
The aim behind these nerfs is to make the difficulty of the dungeons more uniform. Especially in the case of the 3 enemies “Astronos”, “Lakesis”, and “Klotos”, it often happened that these opponents were significantly stronger than the rest of the dungeon. For some groups, this was quite a considerable hurdle, and some teams broke under this pressure and had to leave the dungeon unfinished right before the end.
What do you think about these nerfs? Good and sensible reductions? Or was it all already easy enough before?
