Raiding without voice chat – impossible for many guilds in WoW . The deaf guild Durus Veritas has now proven how far one can go.
In recent weeks and months, the number of guilds that have managed to defeat Xavius, the final boss of the Emerald Nightmare, in mythic mode has increased significantly. Almost 5,000 guilds have claimed this success, but one of them has achieved it under special circumstances.
As reported by Buffed, the guild Durus Veritas from the server Ner’zhul has also defeated the ruler of the nightmare. The special thing about it? The guild completely forgoes voice chat – as almost the entire guild is deaf.
Before the boss fights, communication takes place via a video chat program, so that the members of Durus Veritas are prepared for the battle. During the actual fight, there is obviously no time for further arrangements this way, so a lot had to be rehearsed.
Durus Veritas is particularly proud to have achieved this success before the opening of the Nighthold – as they have shown that a guild with deaf members can compete at a relatively high level.
Cortyn says: When I think back to the issues we had at the beginning with heroic Xavius, while the raid leader was yelling in TeamSpeak, I can hardly imagine how it must work for a deaf group. This is quite a significant achievement that excellently shows that one can also have fun raiding with certain limitations, even if one has to do without aids that are considered standard for the rest of the player base.
