The new WoW book has been postponed again – and probably also the release date of Patch 9.2. We still have to wait almost half a year.
The community of World of Warcraft has to deal with another bad omen. The upcoming WoW book has been postponed again. However, this could also mean that the next major content patch of World of Warcraft is being pushed further into the future.
Patch 9.2 could therefore still be over 5 months away.
What happened? The next book about World of Warcraft, simply titled “Sylvanas” by Christie Golden, has been postponed again. After the release was originally moved from November 2021 to February 2022, there has now been another change. According to current plans, the Sylvanas book will now be released in English on March 29, 2022. The German version will generally follow a few weeks or months later.
What does this have to do with WoW? In the past, Blizzard has often ensured that books are released in time with important events in the game, such as an intro to a new expansion or as a link between two expansions.
The fact that the Sylvanas book is now being postponed again could be an indication that the next major patch 9.2 – which is sure to reveal new aspects of Sylvanas’ story – has also been delayed. A new release date for the book could therefore coincide with a release date for the patch.
This is of course not confirmed by Blizzard, and an official statement regarding Patch 9.2 will probably only come in a few months after Patch 9.1.5 is released.
What does this mean for WoW players? Probably not much good. Patch 9.1.5 brings some minor innovations, but is heavily criticized for “too little, too late.” As a result, players of World of Warcraft are heading towards a new content drought, which will likely cast Shadowlands in an even worse light.
Because there won’t be any really new content – like raids, a new area, or dungeons – until Patch 9.2. Since Blizzard has been struggling with delays throughout the entire “Shadowlands” expansion while also dealing with the fallout of a huge sexism scandal, it seems that work is once again delayed.
