Will tattoos for humans soon become a reality in World of Warcraft? Blizzard gives tattoo enthusiasts hope.
Tattoos are something that players of World of Warcraft have long wished for. Until now, only a few races had the option to choose additional skin designs during character customization. Currently, this includes Night Elves and Demon Hunters with their typical rune images.
The website wowhead made an April Fool’s joke claiming that characters in World of Warcraft could soon choose tattoos. This included well-known logos from other games, such as D.Va’s bunny from Overwatch or a large Reaper spray logo, and of course, the bird Pepe.
Initially intended as a joke, many readers of the site found the idea appealing and hoped that Blizzard would actually consider it.
Twitter sparks real hopes after April Fool’s joke
Just two days later, the Twitter channel of World of Warcraft made headlines with a new image.
On Tuesdays, the Twitter channel usually gives “useful” tips about World of Warcraft, often accompanied by a humorous graphic.
Yesterday, they presented the tip that “players should not stand in fire,” along with a cheerful person who was on fire. Observant players noted that the person appeared to have a tattoo on their chest. Whether this was simply added by the graphic designers or actually indicates that humans will get tattoos someday remains to be seen.
Other races have also received unexpected updates: Blood Elves receive golden eyes!
