Chef Nomi from World of Warcraft has finally been dealt with. Hundreds of players slaughtered the Pandaren multiple times on the PTR.
As part of a stress test for the servers of World of Warcraft, Blizzard called upon all players on the PTR of Patch 7.2 to gather in Dalaran to participate in a PvP event. They wanted to gather as many players in one place to see how the servers would handle it and what impact it would have on the lag (Spoiler: The lag was massive).
However, the real highlight for many players was the fact that they could attack Nomi, the hated Pandaren chef who has been burning players’ crafting materials since the release of Legion.
Blizzard, however, did not make it easy for the angry mob and raised Nomi to “Boss Level”, giving him some devastating abilities. He could rain fire and had a burning aura – no wonder, he knows all about burning things. When players finally managed to destroy Nomi and his clones, a few GameMasters arrived and took advantage of the situation to spawn more bosses in Dalaran.
Bosses from the Night Fortress, the Emerald Nightmare, and even Hogger and the dreaded whale shark attacked Dalaran. It made no sense – but it was a lot of fun.
The entire event was captured in a video, which also documented how severe the lag was:
For the participating players, it was one of the “coolest events” and many felt reminded of the opening of Ahn’Qiraj due to the lag.
But we always knew it: Eventually, Nomi would pay for his actions. Now it was time.
