The former WoW chief does not give up. A new petition calls to flood the BlizzCon with questions about legacy servers.
Those hoping for legacy servers in World of Warcraft have had a pretty tough time. After the closure of the private server Nostalrius, there was a large petition led by former WoW chief Mark Kern, which was even presented to the executives at Blizzard.
Blizzard has made it clear, after a meeting with the Nostalrius team, that they will consider the idea of “Classic” or “Legacy” servers in the future and are looking into how this could be realized. A few days ago, there was another setback when Blizzard announced that there would be no new information on classic servers at this year’s BlizzCon (November 4 and 5).
Mark Kern apparently cannot let this go and has started a new petition, addressing all visitors of the BlizzCon. He urges the attendees to bring up the topic of Classic servers repeatedly at the BlizzCon and to ask more frequently in the Q&A sessions what the concrete plans are – after all, one has waited long enough.
Cortyn says: Honestly, I no longer know what to make of this. In my eyes, it borders on deliberate sabotage of an otherwise nice event. If Blizzard makes it clear beforehand that there will be no news about this at BlizzCon, I find it almost childish to call on as many people as possible to still address this topic. In my opinion, this only poisons the atmosphere and doesn’t create a nice experience at BlizzCon for either the developers or the visitors.
Yes, you can be disappointed that Blizzard does not have an immediate answer. But throwing a tantrum like a little child on the floor and shouting “I want it right now!” does not seem helpful to me – unless he wants to write a whine Wednesday.
