Crafting in World of Warcraft will gain importance. Legendaries could soon fall into the craftsmen’s spectrum.
On the second day of BlizzCon, there weren’t any particularly large revelations, but there was a lot of insight into the details of various games. Especially for World of Warcraft, the developers took a lot of time to share their plans for the future and to throw out some ideas that might never become reality.
Looking back on the development of the crafting quests for Legion, the question arose whether professions will still have relevance in the future, which was immediately met with agreement. The current plan is that crafted items can be raised to an item level of 865 with the large patch 7.2 “The Tomb of Sargeras” – that’s 10 item levels more than is currently possible.
This would bring crafted equipment on par with rewards from the heroic Emerald Nightmare and definitely represent a good entry point for newcomers. But also people with a lot of bad luck could exchange one or another item before they move to the new areas.
One idea that has been swirling in the developers’ minds is the possibility of being able to craft legendary items with patch 7.3 or 7.4. So far, this is merely a thought and not a promise. There is still much internal discussion about this possibility.
Cortyn thinks: I’m not sure what to make of the last idea. On one hand, it would definitely solve the problem of “I have such bad luck, I never get a Legendary” people, but on the other hand, it could further devalue the feeling of having a legendary item. Ultimately, it will probably depend on how they want to implement it.
