What combinations of race and class are the most popular in World of Warcraft? We have the numbers for you.
With its millions of characters, World of Warcraft is still one of the most popular MMORPGs in the world. But which characters are particularly popular in the current expansion “Legion”? To find that out, the user Krainz took on the task and analyzed the data from realmpop. Thus, we now have a list of the most and least popular race/class combinations that have made it to level 110.
As a newcomer, the demon hunter is doing strong – since it is only available to 2 races, it is not surprising that both lead the list. As one can start playing at level 98, the demon hunter is often the first choice for secondary characters.
The least popular are Tauren priests. Anyone who encounters one here can consider themselves lucky. With only 1590 Tauren priestesses in Europe (at level 110), such a meeting is surely a good omen.
Cortyn says: The reasons for certain class and race combinations being unpopular can be attributed to many factors. First of all, there is the aesthetics, which is why particularly blood elves, night elves and humans are among the most popular races. Conversely, there is the “core fantasy” of a race. When I think of dwarves, I immediately picture warriors with axes and certainly not mages or warlocks. The same is true for the Tauren, where one might first think of shamans, warriors, and druids. I must honestly admit that I wasn’t really aware that one could even play a priest as a Tauren.
However, I am shocked that “night elf hunter” does not appear in the top 5 – that would have been my clear favorite. But I guess I am still influenced by Barlow’s blog.
