The area of Suramar is a bit different from the rest of WoW. We explain how to progress quickly.
Suramar – An area like no other
In World of Warcraft: Legion, things are quite different from the previous areas of Azeroth. Especially the quests in Suramar pose a “difficult” challenge for many players, particularly those who are used to just following the arrow on the minimap from one quest to the next. This approach will yield limited success in Suramar, which is why “tunnel vision” players are faced with some challenges.
How to start the Suramar questline?
Getting into Suramar is classic but only possible at level 110. Then you should head to Dalaran to receive a quest from Khadgar. After a short dialogue, the archmage sends the players to Suramar, where the first arcanist of the Nightborne is to be found. Until the establishment of the first camp, it remains classic, but then the quests become rarer and rarer until they ultimately cease completely.
From now on, curiosity is required
Much later in the storyline, you unlock the “Arc’andor,” a magical tree that is nourished by energy from the ley lines. To promote its growth, a total of 8 ley line nodes must be found, which can then be activated through a short quest. The access points are quite hidden, and it’s not always obvious how to reach each node – explorers and adventurers will definitely get their money’s worth. If you don’t want to do that, you can also simply refer to the following video by ZaFrostPet to find where the 8 cave entrances are located.
Quick travel through teleporters
However, there is a downside in Suramar: the area has very few flight points. This is mainly because you simply don’t need them. Early in the storyline, players gain the ability to activate teleporters across the map, linked to a central location. However, these teleporters also need to be found and activated first. You can see all the positions in the following image – but keep in mind that some of them are tied to corresponding quest lines:

As if that weren’t enough, new quest lines are also unlocked with increasing reputation levels (and thereby changing facts within the city). This means that a merchant you never paid attention to before might suddenly want something from you. It is also worthwhile to look off the beaten path, as many of the “hidden” quest lines are a prerequisite for completing a related world quest later.
Important: Keep in mind that numerous quests require Ancient Mana to be completed. Our article on Ancient Mana reveals how to obtain it.
