The pre-patch of World of Warcraft: Legion is on the test server – but when will it go live?
New Specializations and Mechanics in Patch 7.0
There are still about 10 weeks until World of Warcraft: Legion is released. As is customary with Blizzard, every expansion is preceded by a comprehensive update, the “Prepatch”. This patch can now be tried out by all players on the public test realm. This gives those who have not yet had access to the closed beta of Legion a chance to check out the new talents, specializations, and general changes to the classes.
Especially for two classes, a lot is changing: Rogues have to say goodbye to the “Combat” specialization and receive “Outlaw” in exchange – thematically this is more reminiscent of pirates and real scoundrels than the usually stealthy rogues. Hunters are getting a new melee specialization called “Survival” and will be able to fight up close with their enemies from now on.
In addition to the changes to the classes, players can also take a first look at the new PvP system. Honor is disappearing as a resource and now there will be a progression system, similar to normal leveling. This will unlock new talents for PvP, and players can “promote” at the highest level to start over again and unlock new bonuses.
Furthermore, more items than ever are being labeled as “toys” (and thus will go into the toy box) and the wardrobe is finally coming to WoW – meaning you no longer have to keep armors for many years, but models can be permanently unlocked for transmogification.
However, there is still no fixed date for when the patch will go live. Typically, the “Prepatch” has always come 4-6 weeks before the actual expansion release – in the case of Legion, this would therefore be at the earliest in 4 weeks, around mid-July.
