There is still a need for discussion about the legendary items in World of Warcraft.
The legendary items of World of Warcraft: Legion provide continuous reasons for lengthy discussions about the system. Is the random distribution of Legendaries fair? Should it even be fair? And what about players who have particularly bad luck? After the interview between Community Manager “Lore” and Game Director Ion Hazzikostas, fans were divided over his statements.
Some find the system good, others complain that the so-called “Bad Luck Protection” does not turn out to be as high as one would like. Especially the statement that players will eventually have multiple legendary items to have a larger “toolkit” for their class sparked discussions in the official forum.
As player Demonto said:
“With the current system, there will be some people who won’t even have a [Legendary]. You talk about how people will have a collection of Legendaries to choose from. I don’t mean to be disrespectful, but LOL.
I’m not saying you’re wrong, but it’s like I’m wondering whether I should drive my Ferrari or my Lamborghini today. Oh, wait. I don’t have either and probably will NEVER have both.”
Community Manager Aerythlea replied as follows:
“I understand what you’re trying to say, but on the other hand, Legion has not even been out for 2 months. I understand that it is very frustrating when you currently have no Legendary or one that is not ideal. However, if we zoom out a bit and look at the bigger picture, say… in 10 months or more…, then it’s very likely that most players who play regularly will own more than one Legendary.”
Cortyn says: Personally, I think the current system is quite good, because the surprise effect when something finally drops keeps the mood up in TS. But I have it easy, since my first Legendary dropped in the first week. How about you? Already have a Legendary or still looking?
