The future of WoW lies in outer space. With the big Patch 7.3, we are heading to the destroyed world of Argus!
Because Blizzard didn’t announce any new WoW addon at this year’s BlizzCon, they revealed a lot about what will happen in the near future. We already know that Patch 7.1.5 contains many new features and Patch 7.2 brings the Tomb of Sargeras, but beyond that, Ion Hazzikostas, the Game Director of World of Warcraft, has revealed a lot.
So it is now certain: After we have cleansed the Tomb of Sargeras, Patch 7.3 will take us to a completely different world: Argus!
What is Argus in WoW?
Argus is a very historical place in the lore of Warcraft, for after Sargeras united the original demons of the Burning Legion, he targeted this world. There he encountered the Eredar and offered a pact to their three leaders (Kil’jaeden, Archimonde, and Velen). Velen was the only one to recognize the Dark Titan and fled with the Naaru and some loyal Eredar from the planet – since then, these fleeing Eredar are known as “Draenei”.
First signs of this development were already present in the quest line “A falling star,” where players travel to the Exodar and stop a demon invasion. If you stay there a few minutes after the last battle and don’t go directly through the portal, you can still hear a dialogue between Velen and his elite fighters: The Exodar should be made ready, the Draenei “are traveling home”.
What the former home world of the Eredar looks like is still unknown. It likely has many similarities with Marduum, as Argus was supposed to be infused with fel magic.
There is still no specific date for Patch 7.3 – we do not expect a release before summer 2017.
Cortyn says: As my main character is a Draenei, I’m really excited about the development and hope that Blizzard will design Argus in a way that does justice to this world. I am a little apprehensive thinking that Argus could just be a “Tanaan Jungle 2.0,” but currently, I have faith in the developers to build on the rest of the ongoing Legion experience. This should also clarify from which “abyss” Illidan speaks in the night fortress cinematic.
