Legendary items are now stronger, even though World of Warcraft does not display it correctly.
The latest hotfix from World of Warcraft: Legion has fixed some bugs and also increased the item level of rewards from the Trials of Valor by 5 item levels.
However, the update had another change that many players have longed for: Legendary items now have an item level of 910. This applies to both legendaries that just dropped as well as those already in the player’s possession.
Yet just a few minutes after the mini patch, players stormed the official forums to loudly declare: Blizzard has tricked us, our legendary items are still only at item level 895. Others speak of a bug and that it would be “just typical for this to happen to me” – we all know that feeling.
The truth is simple: All legendary items from Legion have indeed been raised to item level 910. However, it may be that items still display as 895 when viewed. The character, however, benefits from the increased stats, and the average item level of the gear should already reflect the changes.
How to fix the display error
If you want to fix the display error, simply close World of Warcraft and the Battle.net software, then navigate to the World of Warcraft directory. Open the folder named “Cache” and delete all contents of the folder. Don’t worry, the files will be automatically recreated on the next startup of the game.
After that, restart World of Warcraft, and all items should now be displayed with the correct values.
