Legendary items in WoW become even more legendary. We tell you why Blizzard is increasing item levels.
A few days ago, the community manager “Lore” had another opportunity for a long conversation with the game director of World of Warcraft, Ion Hazzikostas. In addition to many questions that were already answered at BlizzCon, there were also some news. The most exciting change is coming our way next Wednesday. With the upcoming server maintenance from Tuesday to Wednesday, a fresh hotfix will increase the item level of some items.
All items from the new raid “Trial of Valor” will be increased by 5 item levels. This means that items with an item level of 860 will now drop even on the “normal” difficulty. Helya on mythic will then leave behind items of item level 895 – the current maximum.
Another change is coming to all legendary items that are already in the game:
- All legendary items will be raised to item level 910.
The reason for this is that legendary items should still be considered “the best” loot available. By having nearly 15 points more than any comparable armor, their importance should remain high.
Furthermore, legendary items will be further upgraded with the opening of the Night Fortress, sometime in January. How exactly this will happen is not yet known.
Cortyn says: Since I am in the comfortable position of already wearing two legendary items, this change is clearly an improvement for me, which I will likely also notice in the damage numbers starting Wednesday. But also quite objectively, I find the improvement of these items sensible, so that they really remain “legendary” and are not exchanged for the next best epic with better secondary stats.
