Blizzard releases a new series of short films. This time it is about Illidan from World of Warcraft.
Illidan and his followers – three short films
To thematically prepare World of Warcraft players for the new expansion “Legion”, Blizzard is giving its MMORPG a small series of animated short films. Veterans are already familiar with this from the “Lords of War” series, which was released before the launch of “Warlords of Draenor”.
The new three-part series “Harbingers” is primarily about Illidan and his demon hunters, the Illidari. Blizzard wants to take this opportunity to answer some unresolved lore questions. Because ever since the release of Warcraft 3, it has never really been clarified what Illidan was doing all the time in the Black Temple (aside from his blood elf/human harem). The developers believe that they handled Illidan a bit too quickly in “Burning Crusade” – this time they want to “fully explore” the lore and especially explain in more detail how Illidan prepared for the battle against the demons of the Burning Legion, whom he once betrayed.
In the first short film, it is about an elf whose parents were killed by the Burning Legion. Later, she joins the Illidari and becomes a demon hunter. The story follows this elf until she together with Illidan takes down a pit lord – a general of the demons. Those who have lost track of the story around Illidan in recent years might find the videos helpful. Everyone else can just enjoy them.
There is still no specific release date for the short films. Since Legion is set to be released in about 11 weeks, we shouldn’t have to wait long for the first installment.
