A “secret” currency in WoW: Legion is causing a stir. What are the curious coins for and where can they be found?
The vendor Xur’ios wants the curious coins
Just at the start of an expansion, many things in World of Warcraft are still uncertain. One of these mysteries is the “Curious Coins” that have appeared among some players. But what are they actually good for? And how can you best collect them? We will clarify these questions.
The use of the curious coins
The Curious Coins can only be exchanged with a single vendor in Legion. The vendor Xur’ios is located in Dalaran, very close to the monument of Antonidas. However, he has a daily changing assortment. Five items are permanently included in his selection, which includes recipes for Leatherworking, Engineering, Blacksmithing, Enchanting, and Inscription. The recipes cost only one coin each – quite the opposite of what else Xur’ios has to offer.
Every day, Xur’ios additionally has another item for sale, randomly determined. Among them is a War Turtle as a mount and a shoulder enchantment, as well as a toy that temporarily transforms the character into a star creature.
Where to find Curious Coins?
Currently, it is not entirely certain about the drop chances of the Curious Coins. Confirmed sources are as follows:
- Bossses from Dungeons (all difficulty levels)
- Crates from emissary quests (meta-world quests)
- Reward crates from “Mythic+” dungeons
- Rare enemies
- Treasure chests
Since some rewards cost quite a few coins, it will probably take a long time for players to gather everything from Xur’ios. Definitely nothing that can be collected comfortably in one evening.
By the way, Xur’ios and his items are a reference to the shooter Destiny.
