The class halls are somewhat of a replacement for the garrisons in WoW: Legion. But how does it work there?
Heroic Followers in the Class Halls
With the upcoming expansion “Legion”, quite a few things are set to change in World of Warcraft. The biggest innovation is the introduction of Artifact Weapons, which will accompany players throughout the entire addon. However, some features will also be more or less carried over from Warlords of Draenor, or adapted and reimagined. One of these features is the class hall, which will take the place of your garrison.
As in the garrison, your followers, who are renowned heroes of your class, can be sent on various missions. While many of these missions yield only small rewards such as gold or equipment, others could unlock entire quest lines. For instance, alternative Artifact Weapons can be unlocked through this system. If a Shadow Priest wants to access the Artifact Weapon of the Holy Priest, the corresponding quest must be activated through a mission in the class hall before the character can venture into the world.
In addition to heroes like Chen Stormstout or Li Li Stormstout (both monks), you can also send nameless “troops” to participate in the missions. Troops are more comparable to ships, as they can die and must be re-recruited, unlike your followers. However, troops are necessary to counter certain threats – as this still needs to be done in Legion.
If you can complete a mission with more than 100%, you can rejoice: The additional percentage points go directly into an extra bag, which can contain additional rewards like equipment or some crafting materials. So it’s worth striving for the best possible result.
If you want, you can even place individual heroes in the “Protector” slot of your class hall. This ensures that some characters accompany you on your journey or appear in emergency situations to heroically save your life. For example, when at low HP, Li Li may appear and heal the monk for a significant amount while also strengthening him with a small cloud serpent.
Please keep in mind that the class halls are still undergoing significant changes and these are just snapshots from the beta – a lot can still change by the release.
