The secret Karazhan boss “Night Terror” in WoW was defeated on the first day – he wasn’t that hidden after all.
Blizzard strives to continuously incorporate secrets into the game with Legion, for players to seek out for a while. At least one secret did not last particularly long in Patch 7.1 “Return to Karazhan”, as the secret Karazhan boss “Night Terror” was found and defeated on the first day.
If you think that you have to go on a long hunt to unlock the boss, you are mistaken. In fact, it is quite the opposite: a speedrun. After opening the first door of the dungeon, a timer of 8 minutes begins. During this time, the group must defeat the first boss (the theater event) and click the crystal at the end of the stage. Then a buff for 8 minutes is granted and the run continues.
Gradually, the crystals that were already needed for the quest line must be clicked. This means that after the theater event, there are 8 minutes to get to the room before the virtuous maid (the boss itself is not needed), then a few more minutes down to the cellar, before it goes to Moroes and ultimately the Curator. If successful, you will receive another 5-minute buff, with which you rush to the terrace of the instance and can summon the boss “Night Terror”. In addition to equipment with item level 870, the boss drops itself as a mount – guaranteed once per group.
For well-equipped groups with the proper setup, this poses no major problem, as this video by Jace DK shows:
Cortyn says: Honestly, the secret boss is one of the few real disappointments for me from the Karazhan patch. I would have appreciated it if this boss was accessible through a treasure hunt or another puzzle. A simple “time run”, where you just rush through the instance, as is already the case in “Mythic+” instances, feels a bit uncreative to me. Nevertheless, the associated mount is thus a special feature that random groups will likely struggle with for a while. Congratulations to everyone who has already secured the skeletal dragon – and good luck to all who try again this week.
