With the next patch of World of Warcraft, a true favorite among raids returns to current content. With “Return to Karazhan,” it leads to the namesake tower of the last guardian, Medivh. However, this is not just a “recycled dungeon;” there are also new areas, and somehow nothing is quite as it was a few years ago.
The colleagues from wowhead have already tested the dungeon thoroughly and made some interesting discoveries that we want to share with you.
With a total of 9 bosses, Karazhan is so large that some players may not be able to complete the instance in one evening. However, this is certainly intended by the developers, as they did the same with the original Karazhan.
The new performances in the theater
The theater has always been popular, and this will likely not change in the new Karazhan. A total of 3 new performances feature the undead actors, and – just like before – the players must help out.
- In the first piece “Wikket,” it is about the dark influence that other individuals can have on a crowd and the question of whether one also bears some guilt – but from the perspective of the Hozen. So look forward to plenty of commotion and chaos.
- In the “Westfall Story,” it is about the rivalries between two gangs that have lived in war for ages. However, there is a love couple consisting of members from both gangs, who want to survive in this chaos. A dramatic story of honor and love. Oh, and the protagonists are Murlocs.
- In the last piece “Beautiful Beast,” it is a reference to “Beauty and the Beast.” Affected by a curse, the beast must live forever in the dark form of a beast. Will the beast manage to learn table manners in time to win Bella’s heart?
Plenty of references to Hearthstone
Blizzard has also included some Hearthstone references. For example, there is a “Wine-stained Cloak” with the flavor text “A memento of an unforgettable night.”
Additionally, some enemies cast the spell “Portal: Firelands,” which deals 555555 damage and summons a random minion from the Firelands – a nearly direct copy of the corresponding Hearthstone card. In Blizzard’s card game, the spell also deals 5 damage and summons a minion from the Firelands.
A new champion for all classes: Moroes
Lastly, a good message for anyone who likes to send champions into the world. Every class can secure Moroes as a new champion for their own order hall. How exactly this works lore-wise remains to be seen – but who has not always wanted their own undead butler?
By the way: The old raid instance Karazhan will also continue to exist. There are two separate entrances.
