The new camera settings of World of Warcraft are driving some players away, as they suddenly suffer from headaches and nausea.
When Relaxation Becomes an Illness
The camera in World of Warcraft has become a hot topic in recent weeks. After a huge uproar because Blizzard reduced the maximum camera distance with Patch 7.0.3, there are now other problems – this time they are health-related issues.
Various graphics adjustments, such as rendering objects in the background and camera movements on mounts, are currently causing “motion sickness” among players, which is commonly referred to as “travel sickness” in German. This leads to nausea, headaches, and general discomfort – precisely the things one typically wants to avoid in an MMO.
This also includes the “action camera”, which is currently only activatable via a console command – at least that was the plan. The feature is not yet fully developed, but for some players, it has activated itself. This also causes nausea and discomfort.
The developers temporarily recommend disabling all addons that affect the camera or field of view while different sources of errors are being investigated and fixed.
Mein-MMO says: If the game causes players to feel unwell in front of the computer, then it is urgently time to take action. Some hotfixes have at least addressed the worst bugs. Hopefully, the other complaints can also be remedied by the release of Legion, otherwise the journey to the Broken Isles will likely lose many players even before the flight.
