In WoW: Legion, every artifact weapon has a hidden skin. Slowly but surely, fans are deciphering how these variants are unlocked.
That World of Warcraft: Legion is overflowing with secrets is (ha!) no longer a secret. Besides hidden world bosses and particularly rare mounts, there are also numerous mysteries surrounding the artifact weapons of the characters.
Many details about the artifact weapons are still uncertain
As dataminers have already discovered during the beta, each artifact weapon has an additional hidden skin – and this for every weapon in every specialization. While a large part of these skins was discovered and unlocked during the beta, Blizzard has now thwarted many players’ plans. The means of obtaining the additional skins were changed at the last minute or even completely replaced with unknown quest lines. Slowly but surely, players are discovering more clues and unlocking the first “special” skins of their weapons.
But even apart from the skins, there are hidden properties of the respective artifact weapons that are not described in the talents and are often just “fluff”, meaning an optical and unimportant effect. For instance, Xal’atath (Shadow Priest) occasionally speaks with the hero, while Aluneth (Arcane Mage) “sucks energy” from around the world to increase arcane damage. Frost Death Knights may even occasionally see Arthas, who has some special dialogues during the interactions. Each weapon has a little peculiarity, though not all of them have been discovered yet.
In the upcoming days and weeks, we will publish guides for the individual weapons and their hidden skins as they become public. Because who wouldn’t want to own the corrupted version of the Ashbringer as a Paladin?
