In the latest livestream about World of Warcraft, everything revolved around PvP. What will the rewards be? Will the poor balancing of the beta continue?
Every week, the developers of World of Warcraft: Legion hold a livestream and answer questions from the community. After answering all questions concerning crafting last week, this time it was about a major concern: The PvP in Legion. Those who haven’t delved into the topic should first read our articles about the changes to PvP to understand what the upcoming expansion will bring for players.
We have summarized the most important statements from the stream for you.
The current state of the beta: Major dissatisfaction
The community is quite disappointed with PvP in the beta of Legion – the developers feel the same way. The balancing is still not refined and will take some more time. The problem was that they wanted to tune PvP as if players already had fully upgraded artifact weapons. However, this was not the case at the launch of Legion – and even weeks later – which is why those plans were discarded. Additionally, there was a bug that caused spell classes to be about 30% less effective than planned. All of this is supposed to be fixed in an upcoming version of the beta.
Equipment in Legion – The “random system” is also here
Players can acquire new PvP gear through winning battlegrounds. Every time a PvP match is won, the player receives a random item (that they can also equip).
This armor, by the way, is subject to the same upgrading rules as the gear in PvE. It can be randomly upgraded by a few item levels. Those with a high rating in rated battlegrounds or the arena have a greater chance for this upgrade. The best players will still be able to obtain the best gear. Furthermore, there is 50% more honor (and thus a faster increase in honor levels) in the arena and rated PvP – this should provide enough reason for players to attempt the “more coordinated” battles.
Hotfixes for PvP can come faster in Legion
Another point that the community has long wished for is faster updates in PvP. Too often, individual classes were overpowered for several months. In Legion, many spells have a “PvP multiplier” that regulates damage for all PvP skirmishes. If necessary, this multiplier can be altered with just a server-side hotfix.
Thus, individual balancing issues can be resolved in a few days and no longer after many months.
What will happen to the old PvP gear?
Since honor and conquest points will disappear in Legion, one can no longer buy “old” PvP armor. However, this armor will not be available for gold! Instead, a new currency (“mark of honor”) will be introduced, exclusively used to purchase old PvP armors. This system will be retroactively applied to all PvP sets from old expansions! This is to prevent players from simply visiting all vendors and filling up their wardrobes. The “marks of honor” will be available from lockboxes, which can also be obtained in PvP.
