On the test server of World of Warcraft, the pre-event for Legion has been initiated. The first doomsayers announce the impending doom of Azeroth.
Doomsayers are at large on the test server
Conspiracy theories are quite a complex matter. Often, these theories arise from a good portion of doubt about known circumstances, until perception reverses to the point where only arguments supporting one’s own theory are deemed acceptable. That is exactly what the doomsayers in World of Warcraft are doing. They are part of the pre-event for Legion, which will also be coming to the live servers in a few weeks and can currently be played on the public test realm (PTR).
It appears that the event will unfold in several phases and will start relatively gently: doomsayers with some boards on which they proclaim their theses are standing around in Orgrimmar and Stormwind. Those who show interest can also take some brochures and read about the theories regarding the impending world doom brought about by the Burning Legion.
Later on, as has already been gleaned from the game data, the Legion will invade with large landing ships and a multitude of portals in several areas of Azeroth and must be pushed back by the players. As with previous expansions, the event will be accompanied by a success that requires players to have listened to the various theses of the doomsayers.
On the Alpha server of Legion, the event was briefly playable in more detail. If the event has not fundamentally changed since then, players may become “susceptible” to the theses of the doomsayers over time and hear whispered voices. If one follows the words, one will gradually be possessed by a demonic presence and can cause a bit of mischief in the capitals—until one becomes a terror lord and allows oneself to be killed by the guards. Sounds funny and reminds a bit of the zombie event from Wrath of the Lich King, but could certainly be fun.
