The new instance “Court of Stars” from World of Warcraft: Legion is different – many options determine the battles.
Court of Stars – a party of the Nightborne
In the shattered isles of the World of Warcraft expansion Legion, there are some new dungeons waiting for players. One of them is the so-called “Court of Stars” in the heart of Suramar. The elven folk of the Nightborne hosts a grand celebration, where a large part of the nobility gathers. According to rumors, the Grand Magistrix is also supposed to be on site – so it’s the perfect opportunity to sneak into this party and eliminate this threat secretly.
The Youtubers from FatbossTV have assembled a five-man group and fought their way through this unusual instance.
Unlike usual, the instance is not linear, but there are many branches and paths to explore, even if they don’t always hold something. In the course of the dungeon, puzzles must be solved, as the group must uncover an “agent of the burning Legion” and first collect clues. NPCs at the party provide tips and hints like “I know the agent is not a woman” or “I know the agent wears a white robe”. These hints must be combined to locate the enemy.
For the first time, professions and classes also play an important role in the instance. There is a boss fight where the boss runs to a mana well at 25% health to regain strength. Normally, the boss deals additional damage afterward – however, if there is a rogue in the group, he can poison the well beforehand, which immediately kills the boss while drinking.
Depending on the profession, various buffs can be activated at the party. A enchanter can activate a magical orb that increases the group’s damage by 20%, while a scribe can increase movement speed.
Unfortunately, the boss fights, according to the opinion of the Youtubers, were boring and uninspired in terms of mechanics, as they seldom interacted with the environment and the abilities of the opponents “come straight from Classic times”. Here, we hope that Blizzard will improve something to make the bosses more exciting.
Mein-MMO says: From the viewer’s perspective, the Court of Stars resembles less a classic instance from World of Warcraft and more an adventure like one knows from WildStar . Small puzzles, additional power-ups and decision-making options are rather unusual for Blizzard’s dungeons. Thus, Court of Stars can be understood as an experiment by the developers. If it is well received by fans (which I hope), we will probably see more such content in the future.
