The current raid “Trial of Valor” in WoW has been simplified. The real reason seems to be that smaller guilds can join in again.
As Blizzard recently announced on Twitter, a new hotfix for World of Warcraft: Legion has been applied, which has reduced the difficulty of the current raid instance “Trial of Valor”. Specifically, it concerns the first fight against Odyn. In Phase 1, players fight against Hyrja, who deals a lot of damage with her spell “Shield of Light” – this has now been “significantly” reduced on normal and heroic difficulty.
In addition, the fight against Helya has also been adjusted. Some additional enemies in Phase 2 of the fight now have slightly fewer hit points, making the phase quicker to handle.
Cortyn says: The actual reason for the nerf seems not to be that the instance itself was too difficult, but rather that it could not be handled with some group compositions. Normally, “heroic” raids scale with the number of players, which works well in many cases. However, this was not the case with Odyn, as the fight has too many mechanics for 10 players to fulfill them all, since the nerfed “Shield of Light” from Hyrja must (typically) be intercepted by 5 players. At the same time, 3×2 players need to deal with the rune summoners, and another tank must keep the other boss occupied.
One does not need to be a math genius to notice that 10 players are insufficient to intercept an ability with 5 people when 7 players are otherwise occupied. Therefore, the nerf is fundamentally intended to make the raid accessible to smaller groups of 10-12 people on heroic difficulty.
By the way: The second PvP season of Legion is also on the starting blocks!
