In World of Warcraft: Legion, much revolves around the artifact weapons. These are given to players early on and grow alongside their bearers throughout the entire expansion. Each talent specialization receives its own weapon, meaning that monks have a total of 3 artifacts available. Let’s take a look at each weapon.
Brewmaster – Fu Zan, Companion of the Wanderer (Artifact weapon for Brewmaster monks)
Background story: One of the first guardians of the Titans, Freya, was tasked with breathing life into the world of Azeroth. The first seed for this life was planted in Pandaria, where the great forest known as “Fu Zan” was born. Before embarking on her journey, she fashioned a staff from this forest, which she later passed on to the Jade Serpent Yu’lon, who in turn entrusted it to the smartest of all Hozen. This “Monkey King” hung all his important possessions on the staff, which he still carries today.
Properties of Fu Zan: Since Fu Zan is suitable for tanks, its properties are also designed accordingly. There are many enhancements to health points, cooldown reductions, and increased damage for abilities that generate threat.
Everyone starts with Exploding Keg, which throws a barrel at a target area that explodes upon impact, causing damage and ensuring that the opponent’s next attack misses.
Dragonfire Brew enhances the breath of fire and envelops the monk in flames that deal damage to all enemies around him over the course of 8 seconds. At the same time, the damage taken by the monk is reduced by 8% during this time.
Brew-Stache enhances the abilities Purifying Brew and Ironskin Brew by ensuring that the monk receives 15% additional dodge chance for 2.5 seconds after activation.
Fortification enhances Fortifying Brew and ensures that the monk receives 25% additional dodge chance for an impressive 21 seconds after activation.
Cloudwalker – Sheilun, Staff of Mists (Artifact weapon for Mistweaver monks)
Background story: The last emperor of the Pandaren received the prophecy that the Burning Legion would one day invade Azeroth, leaving nothing but devastation in its wake. To protect himself and his people, Emperor Shaohao undertook a series of trials, bringing the staff Sheilun with him. The result of these trials was that Shaohao himself became part of the land, cutting Pandaria off from the rest of the world and hiding it behind a thick veil of mists, so it could avoid the threat. For a long time, his staff seemed to have been lost until the monks of the Tian monastery found it and brought it to the Terrace of Eternal Spring.
Properties of Sheilun: The ordinary properties of Sheilun are quite classic; almost always, they simply enhance the healing of certain abilities.
It starts with Sheilun’s Gift, which consumes all mist clouds generated by Sheilun and heals the target for a high amount.
The Mists of Sheilun give all spells a chance to increase the effect of hots by 20% for 10 seconds. At the end of the effect, the monk releases a wave of mist that additionally heals all allies within a 15-meter radius.
An improvement of Thunder Focus Tea is Celestial Breath, which ensures that every 30 seconds, using the ability produces the Breath of Yu’lon, healing up to 6 allies within 12 meters around the monk.
Blessing of Yu’lon enhances the spell Rebirth. All targets of Rebirth are additionally healed for 30% of the original healing of the spell.
Windwalker – Fists of Heaven (Artifact weapon for Windwalker monks)
Background story: Many millennia ago, a talented smith of the Tol’vir, Irmaat, created these mighty hand blades. However, he was not satisfied with his work and wanted to enchant the hand blades with the elemental power of the wind lord Al’Akir. Al’Akir was understandably not very convinced by these plans. Instead, he enchanted the weapon with huge amounts of unbridled energy. When Irmaat wanted to use the power of the fists, his entire city was engulfed by a whirlwind, scattering the weapons in all directions.
Properties of the Fists of Heaven: The properties of the Fists of Heaven are also classic. Traditionally, they increase the damage of all abilities. What’s interesting is the possibility to enhance Touch of Karma so that the reflected damage heals the monk at the same time.
It starts with Strike of the Wind Lord, which deals massive damage to a single target and reduces its movement speed by 50% for 6 seconds.
Crosswinds is an enhancement for Fury Fists. Wind spirits of the monk are summoned, dealing additional damage to the target.
Gale Burst increases the damage of Touch of Death by 10% of all damage done during the duration of the ability.
Finally, Tornado Kicks enhances Rising Sun Kick so that it hits a second time for 15% additional damage.
