The PvP quests of the “Towers of the Watchers” in WoW have been changed with the hotfix.
With the recent hotfix, alongside numerous adjustments to various classes, some changes were also made to the world quests. Especially the “Towers of the Watchers” have undergone some adjustments. At the launch of Legion, the associated world quests appeared every 2 hours and were quite popular among players – as completing such a quest was rewarded with 300 honor points and usually took only a few minutes. The problem was: Completing these quests was more lucrative than actual PvP, which surely was not the intention of the creators.
Blizzard already pulled the emergency brake a few weeks ago and increased the respawn time of these quests to 24 hours and reduced the honor gain to 150, which had exactly the opposite effect: Nobody completed these quests anymore.
Now the developers have chosen a middle ground. The Towers of the Watchers now have a cooldown of 24 hours but grant 300 honor again (in addition to any other rewards). This way, the towers should remain lucrative while not competing with the “classic” PvP offerings, such as arena matches or battlegrounds. The main share of honor should ultimately come from actual PvP and not from farming mobs.
Apart from these changes, the weekly events have also started again yesterday. For one week, players will receive additional honor when they sign up for PvP skirmishes in the arena – the honor gain is increased by 50%. In front of the Violet Hold, there is also a quest that rewards a large amount of artifact power, honor, and a PvP reward after winning in 10 arena rounds.
