WoW: Raid Guide Antorus – Worldbreaker, Hellhounds, High Command

WoW: Legion receives its final raid: Antorus, the Burning Throne. We present to you the first three bosses of the raid with guides: the Worldbreaker of Garothi, the Fel Hounds of Sargeras, and the Antoran Command.

Note: The basic videos are gameplay from the PTR version of the raid. There may be deviations from the release version.

The guides are intended for the normal and heroic modes of Antorus. The mythical mode as well as the LFR will be available at a later date.

The massive Felhunter is the first boss of the instance, and stationary. You only fight its upper body and its two shoulder weapons. The fight proceeds similarly to the first phase of the Fallen Avatar in the Tomb of Sargeras and requires a lot of coordination.

Setup: The fight should ideally be played with two camps: melee and ranged, with ranged players absolutely needing to gather in the middle of the platform. This is important for the movement paths, and the outer areas must be kept clear for the tanks. The tanks stand on either side of the boss, with melee near the currently inactive tank.

The Abilities

  • Fel Bombardment: The current tank is fixed, and for 5 seconds a projectile is fired at him every second. The projectiles deal high damage (deadly for any non-tank) and knock back 7 meters. This ability requires a tank switch.
    • The projectiles have a short flight time, so the corresponding tank should have created some distance between himself and the boss before the first impact to avoid being killed by chain attacks. It suffices to run sideways away from the boss in a line (Feathers from priests and other speed boosts are very helpful).
  • Decimation: Random players are marked, leaving a ground area shortly thereafter. These large, green areas explode some moments later, dealing extremely high damage to targets inside, as well as moderate damage to the entire raid.
    • Affected targets should move away from the group and drop the areas slightly to the sides of the camps, preferably on the currently inactive side of the boss. However, the area is large enough to give the tanks dodging options.
  • Annihilation: Three small circles appear in the area, one of which usually occurs near the melee players. In each circle, 2-3 (3-4 in larger raids) players need to stand to absorb the damage from the incoming projectile.
    • If a projectile is not intercepted, it deals great damage to the raid (comparable to Sargeras’ touch in the Fallen Avatar heroic+). Intercepting players receive a strong damage-over-time spell that needs to be healed by the healers.
  • Apocalypse Unit: At 65% and 25% health, the Worldbreaker casts Apocalypse Unit. This is a spell cast over 20 seconds, which deals damage to all players every 4 seconds, and upon expiration immediately wipes the raid.
    • To interrupt the spell, one of the two shoulder cannons of the Felhunter must be destroyed: the Decimator or the Annihilator. If one weapon is destroyed, the corresponding ability will no longer be used for the rest of the fight, but the Worldbreaker will deal 20% (or 40%) more damage.
  • Boiling Fel Energy (heroic): While Apocalypse Unit is being cast, long, wide strips appear on the ground that shortly thereafter explode and deal nearly lethal damage to all targets in the area.

  • Extermination: After Apocalypse Unit is interrupted, the boss casts Extermination. This ability deals extremely high damage to all targets and knocks them back 60 meters. Damage decreases with distance from the boss.
    • So the entire raid should pull back to the other side of the room, except for one tank who must absorb the hit with defensive cooldowns. If no one is within melee range, the Worldbreaker will cast Butchery, dealing very high damage per second to all targets.
  • Scorching Barrage: After the first cannon is destroyed, the Felhunter deals moderate damage every 2 seconds to random targets.
    • This is a soft enrage that will at the latest in the third phase turn into a race against time and mana and must be continuously healed.

After the second Apocalypse Unit, the raid gathers directly in front of the boss to better heal the constant damage. Large healer cooldowns are needed here, as the damage significantly increases. But the boss has no abilities left other than the Fel Bombardment.

Enhanced Abilities in the Second Phase

The second phase can be played in two ways. By destroying either the Decimator or the Annihilator, the respective other ability becomes stronger:

  • Enhanced Annihilation: Annihilation now summons 7 (or more) circles. The raid should spread out to be more mobile, and whenever possible, impacts must be intercepted with immunities to minimize damage to the raid.
  • Enhanced Decimation: Three instead of one player will be marked with Decimation. The raid should gather in a single spot in front of the boss and move closely left and right when the areas appear. Early movement may lead to a wipe.

The enhanced Decimation is probably easier to play, as it is still unclear whether the enhanced Annihilation generates more circles when the raid is larger. If it always involves 7 circles, larger raids will have more success with this tactic.
