The next patch of WoW: Legion is on the test server. Lots of new content awaits players in Karazhan and the surrounding area.
World of Warcraft: Legion has been out for barely two weeks, but the developers are already making significant progress in pushing out new content. No wonder, considering they once again had a “big mouth” and promised that this time there would be no content drought.
To ensure that these are not just “empty words”, Patch 7.1 “Return to Karazhan” is now available on the test servers, packed full of new content.
Karazhan as a Mythic Dungeon for 5 Players
The biggest piece consists of Karazhan itself and the surrounding area, meaning the Pass of the Dead Winds. Since the invasions on Azeroth are merrily ongoing, the Legion has taken over the zone. Players must complete a quest line to gain access to the Mythic Dungeon Karazhan.
At the same time, the storyline is progressing in other locations. In Suramar, new quests are unlocked each week, leading to the opening of the Night Fortress, the raid instance, over the course of 9 weeks. This is accompanied by new world quests and, of course, plenty of story.
Lastly, a small “interim raid” is being implemented, the Trials of Valor, which addresses the story of Helya and Odyn. They have quite a dispute, and players once again must ensure clear messages (i.e., kill one of the two).
World Events Beyond the Broken Isles
Since the concept of world events and scalable content has been well received by fans, the development team is now expanding these mechanics. The island of Alcaz (near Theramore) is being revamped, so players can find out what the crazy Dr. Weavil is up to. He was crucial for the opening of Ahn’Qiraj last time – and that was nearly 10 years ago.
Also new is a fresh pet collector achievement for the raid instances from “Wrath of the Lich King” – the collection hunt in old raids thus enters its 4th round.
But aside from the new content, there are numerous changes to the game systems. For instance, the “Prestige” system in PvP is being adjusted so that players no longer forget their honor talents when they level up a prestige rank. In exchange, players now receive gold and artifact power at the respective levels.
A somewhat complete list of all changes can be found in our sources, although not everything is known yet. Furthermore, this is the “first version” of the patch, which may undergo several changes before release.
