Blizzard reveals in an infographic how the pre-event of World of Warcraft unfolded in pure numbers. So much can be said: Many demons had to die.
The Invasion of the Demon Hunters
In recent years, it has become fashionable to publish various statistics about the numbers and events in MMORPGs. World of Warcraft is no exception and has shown in a large infographic how the pre-event of Legion unfolded.
The numbers provide insight into how many players participated in the different demon invasions and also some interesting facts about the demon hunters.
Overall, more than 2.5 million demon invasions were successfully repelled during the roughly 3 weeks of the pre-event. However, this number seems to be slightly distorted, as the invasions ultimately also “defended themselves” because eventually the NPCs managed to handle the problems themselves.
More exciting is the following fact: During the pre-event, a proud 3.9 million demon hunters were created, who fought for victory on Mardum under Illidan’s leadership. Since demon hunters could only be created by pre-order customers, it gives at least a rough idea of how many players were ready to purchase the expansion beforehand.
Also amusing is the following number: More than 1.7 million instance visits were undertaken by groups that had at least 4 demon hunters. Given the wild jumping around, the associated healers must have regularly had their eyes fall out of their heads.

In the coming weeks and months, Blizzard plans to publish more statistics, especially about artifacts, world quests, and dungeons. Unfortunately, all these numbers provide little insight into how many players World of Warcraft has again – since Warlords of Draenor, Blizzard has not disclosed numbers anymore.
