Legendary items in WoW become even more legendary. Their item level count increases by a whopping 30 points.
Legendary items are an integral part of a character’s power in World of Warcraft: Legion. Their item level is usually significantly above the item level of all other gear, so the orange item color always represents something special and is practically incomparable.
However, with the current expansion, the maximum item level has already been raised multiple times to keep new content like raids and PvP interesting and rewarding, enticing players with fresh rewards.
With the introduction of Patch 7.1.5, new Legendaries were set to an item level of 940, while the old 910s were upgraded through a quest line.
Legendary items are upgraded to 970 via quest
Similar changes will occur with Patch 7.2.5. All legendary items that drop after the patch’s release will have an item level of 970.
“Old” Legendaries, which still have item level 940 or even 910, will need to be manually upgraded. For this, – as already in Patch 7.1.5 – a new quest line will be provided.
Whether farming essences in the raid instance “The Tomb of Sargeras” will again be necessary for the upgrade is still unknown. However, it is conceivable since the upgrade system has proven to be effective.
However, the most important news might be: Even the “old” Legendaries remain relevant and can be upgraded. No one will be required to have the same level of luck to obtain the same item in a better form.
There is currently no release date for Patch 7.2.5. Most speculations suggest a waiting period of at least another 6-8 weeks – sometime in early summer.
