The legendary weapons of Illidan are making a comeback in WoW. With patch 7.2.5, the Azzinoth blades come as a transmog set – but only for demon hunters.
When transmogrifiying items in World of Warcraft, there are only a few unchangeable rules left. No class can transmog an item into another one that it could not actually wear. Moreover, the appearance of legendary items, such as Atiesh or Sulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros, cannot be transferred to other weapons – otherwise, in Azeroth, players would only run around with the appearance of legendary weapons like Thunderfury.
However, this could change with the next patch 7.2.5. The update also includes a timewalking raid, namely the “Black Temple” from “The Burning Crusade”. During the final boss Illidan, the Warglaives of Azzinoth could drop back then, two of the most impressive weapons in the entire WoW universe.

Azzinoth Blades only for Demon Hunters
Originally, the weapon was only suitable for rogues and warriors, but over the course of expansions, death knights, monks, and demon hunters were also added.
In the timewalking variant of the Black Temple, the weapon will be available again – at least as a template for transmogrifiying. As it stands now on the PTR, it will only be available for demon hunters, not for the other classes – including not the original wielders from “Burning Crusade”.
From a story perspective, this definitely makes sense, as who would be better suited for the glaives of a demon hunter than a demon hunter? The associated achievement even has a name that fits the history of demon hunters. Translated, it means: “I’ll hold this for you until you come back out”.
The other classes might still feel snubbed – what do you think about the whole thing?
