Will the twinking with Patch 7.2 in World of Warcraft be easier with heirlooms? The Community Manager gives a clear answer.
Although Patch 7.2 is still some way off and is not expected to hit the live servers until early summer, players are already actively discussing the content. One point that many players desire is the upgrade of heirlooms – the “leveling gear” that grants additional experience – to level 110. Currently, this armor only scales up to level 100 and loses its effect thereafter.
In the official forum, the user Kwarmerang asked whether “Patch 7.2 will offer the possibility to upgrade heirlooms to level 110?”
The Community Manager Josh “Lore” Allen gave the short and sobering answer: No.
Why the heirlooms are not yet being upgraded to level 110 with Patch 7.2 is not further explained. The reasons for this may be varied, but particularly the world quest system would likely need an overhaul to support “faster” heroes at level 110. Many of the world quests are tied to a certain story progression. Anyone who has never completed the main campaign in Highmountain will not be offered many world quests.
Another criticism is that scaling the heirlooms in the new environment would be detrimental because rewards from quests would always be redundant – however, this was not a major issue at least in Warlords of Draenor.
On the other hand, there are already some easements to level faster from 100 to 110 – signing up for “Random Dungeons” now grants significantly more experience points than at the start of Legion.
Those hoping for a faster level-up will still have to be patient. Perhaps Blizzard will also discard the concept of heirlooms or wants to fundamentally revise it for a rework.
