In WoW, the “Kirin Tor” quests with flying mounts are now a bad joke. But is this allowed and intended by Blizzard?
In recent days and weeks, more and more players are unlocking flying on the Broken Isles of World of Warcraft. This once again allows players to unpack their feathered flying mounts and explore the game world from the air. For most players, this likely means more freedom and significantly faster travel across the islands as a result.
A particular set of world quests is, however, drastically trivialized by the flying mounts: the “Kirin Tor” quests. In the “Like the Wind” and “The Magic of Flight” quests, players are supposed to complete a small mini-game that requires skill and endurance to reach a target point located in a position that is unreachable by normal means. With the flying mount, the quest duration can be reduced from 2-3 minutes to 4-5 seconds.
Kirin Tor Quests with Flying Mounts is Not a Problem
So what does Blizzard say about this? Is it perhaps even forbidden? In the official forum, Community Manager Aerythlea has now made a statement and clarified:
“We have not yet decided whether we will make changes to the “Kirin Tor” quests and prohibit flying there. We assumed that the quests would become much easier with flying, and therefore we do not intend to punish players for using a flying mount during these quests.”
So there is reassurance for everyone who was worried: The quests can be completed with the flying mount.
Cortyn says: I believe that flying mounts should simply be disabled during the quests, as otherwise they serve no real purpose. Then you might as well just click on the NPC directly to get a reward for doing nothing. But hey, that is being hotly debated.
By the way, Blizzard has new plans for Pirate Day – it will be completely overhauled.
