According to the first information, there is no Sargeras in Patch 7.3 of WoW. However, something else lurks in the new raid…
Since today (29.06.2017), Patch 7.3 with the new planet Argus is active on the test servers of World of Warcraft. There are quite a few new contents. Even though not everything is active and implemented yet, a rough impression can already be gained. But there is no trace of one person: Sargeras. What is up with him? Who is the final boss of Patch 7.3? We will deal with these topics.
There will be some spoilers and speculations. You have been warned.
The bosses of Antorus, the Burning Throne
One of the main elements of Patch 7.3 will be the new raid instance named Antorus, the Burning Throne. This will be the centerpiece, even if it is not directly accessible at the release of the patch. From the achievements and the dungeon journal, we already know which 11 bosses will await us there:
- Worldbreaker Garothi
- The Hounds of Sargeras
- The War Council
- Portal Keeper Hasabel
- Eonar the Lifebinder
- Imonar the Soulhunter
- Kin’garoth
- Varimathras
- The Circle of Shivarra
- Aggramar
- Argus the Unmaker
Lore fans will immediately notice several names. Eonar the Lifebinder and Aggramar are two Titans. Both were killed by Sargeras long ago, but their souls were cast into the cosmos. Whether we are only fighting against their bodies, now controlled by other powers, remains unknown at this point. However, it is indeed possible that Sargeras has kept the bodies of his fallen brothers and sister, as great power surely resides in them.
Argus the Unmaker
Many players have wondered why the planet Argus had a huge hole when it was first depicted. What happened there? Was the planet attacked or destroyed by fel energy? The answer seems to lie with the last boss of the raid: Argus the Unmaker.
The boss has the same name as the planet, which suggests that Argus carried a world soul within it. This world soul seems to have awakened, becoming an independent Titan. In a way, the planet Argus is the egg from which the Titan Argus “hatched”.
How exactly such a Titan “behaves” after being awakened by the fel-corrupted Sargeras, we will probably find out in the coming months. The main thing for Sargeras seems to be that he has not been corrupted by the Void Lords.
Where is Sargeras?
When thinking of the Burning Legion, the Dark Titan Sargeras invariably comes to mind. However, he seems to be noticeably absent on Argus.
It seems likely that Sargeras has simply left the invasion of Azeroth to Kil’jaeden and is fighting elsewhere in the cosmos to devour more planets and thereby hinder the Void Lords. Ultimately, it is probably a clever move to not eliminate the head of the Legion – at least not yet. Perhaps there will be a Patch 7.4. Or Sargeras escapes, which might annoy some players but will let others breathe a sigh of relief. Because without the Burning Legion as an everlasting enemy, World of Warcraft would indeed be lacking something.
